Message Well, it is certain that none of us really know what the future holds, but I think we can see based on current events that a new era of technology will be ushering in a different breed of automobiles. I wonder, what will become of all the gas-guzzling engines of today and yesterday?

The reason I ask is not so much to get any specific answers, because I seriously doubt anyone can provide anything totally solid right now, but lets be hypothetical; in the next (few?) years a new standard completely replaces gasoline vehicles to the point of obsoletion. I am curious what will happen to cars, such as the Z? Will they become worth the metal they are made from like the other tons of junk vehicles littered across the states, or might they become even more collectible and rare in their useless state?

I don't want to sidetrack this, but I have noticed that it is quite apparent the new presidency wishes to change a number of trends in this country. Specifically, I have noticed quite a hike in cigarette prices locally (I don't smoke but have many friends who do), and the speculation is that this is being done to streamline our economy/make us more efficient as the bottom line. Many other similar actions are being taken in other avenues around America, and automobiles are no exception. Again, I don't want to get into all of that, but I do feel *at some point* vehicles are going to follow suit (as is being discussed), so it is inevitable that the stray from gasoline will occur. I really do wonder though, what that will leave the rest of these "obsolete" vehicles with? It would be easy to say, "well they will obviously collect in value b/c most will be destroyed, etc., so the ones held onto will increase in value", but due to the sheer number of vehicles out there, I wonder if this is really going to be the case? Maybe baseball cards will bounce back :)

Ah, there really is no point to any of this, but a lot is left to the imagination. It might be fun to get some insight and opinions from other people, especially if it could be backed with trends from the past...if not for any REAL purpose other than curiosity.
